Well, i have finished the first of two costumes for my final major project!
I really enjoyed the whole process of making this tutu from start to finish.

I have been working with the most beautiful autumnal colours! Silks, cord, organza, taffeta the lot! I adore working with colours and textures.
For a few of the leaves I used a machine embroidery technique. This technique involved me to basically colour in with my machine, building up layers of thread on a dissoluble fabric. I love the effect that this technique creates! I also used a couching technique of a majority of the leaves. Each of the leaves are unique, as I made templates from leaves that i collected from a visit to Totnes in the autumn, perfect!
It took a while to place all of the leaves in the right place on the bodice. I wanted these to look as natural and organic as possible!
Here are a couple of snaps of the finished tutu. Chloe looked stunning! I can't wait to see the professional photos from the shoot! This costume will be featured in our final year show at Plymouth College of Art! It's scary to think it's nearly time to leave the college and enter the big wide world!
